Here we re adding 0 75 to word s default 1 0 top margin to make room for a two hole punch at the top of the page.
When i click on portrait word assumes a 4 25 tall page.
If you re printing a double sided document that will go into a binder to form a book you ll want to adjust the gutter margin instead of adjusting the left or right margins.
Set gutter position to left.
For an 8 5 x 11 paper size when i click on landscape word assumes i want an 8 5 tall page for the booklet.
Go to the paper tab and select the paper size.
Word calls this area the gutter and allows you to customize the size based on your binding needs.
Select and increase the value of gutter to reserve space on the inside fold for binding.
By changing the value in the gutter option you ll add white space for binding and the preview section will update accordingly.

Click the page layout tab on the microsoft word ribbon and then select margins click custom margins at the bottom of the pop up window to open the page setup menu.
The gutter will thus be set for the left hand side of every page.
